Recreation ~ Horseback Riding

Secluded on a quiet hilltop overlooking the apple orchard at Hawk's Nature Preserve, are the Stables at Hawk. During the warm-weather months, the area comes alive with top-quality resident horses and a dedicated team of trainers leading guided trail rides for guests, owners and the public-at-large. Welcoming everyone from newcomers eager to learn the art of riding for the first time, to expert equestrian enthusiasts looking to explore new territory in the Vermont countryside, the Stables at Hawk offers a riding experience geared toward individuals of all ages and abilities.

During the warm-weather months, the area comes alive with top-quality resident horses and a dedicated team of trainers

Instructional programs have been developed to enable those with little or no experience the opportunity to first feel what it's like to be out on the trail and control a horse prior to departure from the Stables. Simulating the trail ride while allowing the rider to practice maneuvering around obstacles and guiding the horse over varied terrain, develops confidence in preparation for hitting the trail. Then, once trained and outfitted, you'll be ready to saddle-up and horseback on miles of quaint country roads and old logging trails throughout Hawk's 1,200 acres.

Hawk Stables provides one- and two-hour Western-saddle trail rides, pony rides for children, and old-fashioned carriage rides. Follow it all up at the end of the day with a visit to the Hawk Spa to soothe your tired muscles and reflect on a newly found skill.
